Watch “Sound of Freedom” to get a glimpse into the dark world of human trafficking. Initially released in theaters on July 4th, “Sound of Freedom” is currently America’s #1 movie.

WRTC member, Ray Xie, shares his thoughts after seeing the movie:
“Sound of Freedom" rang the first bell of a Child-trafficking abolitionist war. The movie, starring Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus in the film "Passion of the Christ," tells the true story of Tim Ballard, a former American government agent who embarks on a mission to rescue children from sex traffickers operating between Colombia and the United States.
Produced by Mel Gibson and others, the film is a grand production in terms of visuals and storytelling. It omits many brutal scenes, alleviating concerns for the audience. The theaters were packed, as people were deeply moved by the tragic plight of a brother and sister and the unwavering call from God that resonated with a few brave warriors.
By all accounts, this movie should have been a blockbuster filled with positive energy. However, it faced numerous obstacles and took five years to be released.
Both Netflix and Amazon refused to distribute the movie. The Walt Disney Company even acquired the production studio and subsequently shelved the film. Wikipedia also cast a negative light on this project.
It is evident how powerful the influence of slaveholders can be.
Today, slavery persists in the forms of human trafficking, sexual slavery, and child labor. The number of victims, totaling 40 million, far exceeds the era of African slavery several centuries ago. The United States is among the largest consumers of sexual slavery.
Cases like "Sound of Freedom" should be at the forefront of mainstream media coverage. When was the last time you saw CNN reporting on a sex trafficking case? Yet, they can dedicate round-the-clock coverage to incidents involving a few multimillionaires and their submarines.
When did pedophilia and child sex trafficking become sensitive topics? Does launching an investigation really implicate many individuals?
"Sound of Freedom" poses a moral dilemma for each one of us. As Jim Caviezel stated, he hopes that this movie will inspire more courageous whistleblowers to come forward. "Sound of Freedom" rang the first bell of the upcoming abolitionist war.
